Details

It takes some seconds to close the popup when there are no results, we should look into some simple solution to make that feel faster.
to reproduce the slowdown, just type something matching, then type some garbage
bug 1041428 might help a little bit, I found we don't always properly cancel running statements.

on the other side, we now don't immediately close the popup to avoid flickering, fixing this may regress that, and it would be worse. I think for now this is a wontfix, we can evaluate in future, when we have some kind of strategy to deal with it.
