Details

STR:
1) Lock screen
2) Hold power button
3) power/reboot/airplane mode dialog comes up. Keep holding the button
4) It takes some time, keep holding
5) Phone reboots

What should happen: Phone should not reboot.

Sometimes when I kneel or sit cross-legged, I accidentally long-press the power button. So this is a bit annoying. :)
I think this is a low-level control feature, which allow user to restart the device during software layer unresponsive, rather than having to cut off the power supply (battery).

So, I guess this should be WONTFIX.
OS: Linux → Gonk (Firefox OS)
Hardware: x86_64 → All
I can confirm this and it happens daily (sometimes several times a day). It's really annoying.

I think that if you do need to restart your phone because the common restart or switch off won't work, your smallest problem is to remove the battery for a second.
I've noticed that a long press is able to restart the phone from most (all?) crash/hang/lock/blackscreen conditions, so my guess is it's a hardware feature that triggers a cold system reset.
Can we get any official opinion if this is a bug or a feature? If it's a feature please let the users know and close this entry. Best regards!
I think this is intended. Many other phones show a similar behavior.

Yes, this is intended behavior and happens outside of Firefox OS too. Long-pressing the power button for long enough will force a hard-reboot on the phone and we have no control over it.
