Details

When I try and view a page over HTTPS, the status bar says "Connecting"... and then says "Document: Done"; however, the contents of the browser window do not change. This happens whether the URL is accessed via hyperlink, or by direct entry into the URL field.
reporter: plaese report detailed information. Build ID, URL, any other info of your environment.
Problem exists on Build ID 2001101312, Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:0.9.5) Gecko/20011013 HTTPS connections seem to just fail silently. Another curiosity is that the Edit->Preferences->Privacy & Security->Certificates tab is missing entirely, which may be the root of the SSL problems.
Build 0.9.5 for Sparc Solaris. OS Versions = Solaris 8, all patches installed. I don't think this should matter, but I was using a SunRay terminal, which means that X is streaming across the network to the terminal from a central server. The browsers's language setting is set to "Japanese" first, and then English. Proxies are manually set for both HTTP and HTTPS. The URL I was trying to view was https://suned.sun.co.jp/JPN/catalog/courses/JP-OO-226.html Which is a EUC (Japanese Unix) encoded. The page can be viewed properly using Netscape 4.7 on Solaris, and IE 6.0 on WinME. Let me know if you need more information.
This is a duplicate of bug 105106. The Sun binary for mozilla 0.9.5 was accidentally built without https support. To get around the problem, either use 0.9.4 or a nightly build. Sites using https work for me in the most recent nightlty builds, but you probably don't want to use a nightly build from Nov. 2-5 due to bug 108175. Maybe try a build from Oct. 31 or so. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 105106 ***
