There was a pretty big regression on the taskjs benchmark on 2014-10-08:

(taskjs is a somewhat artificial benchmark that measures the amount of checkerboarding on a page with a lot of gradients, where are known to be slow to draw)

Regression first occurred within this range:

In this range, the most suspicious commits seem to be two from Matt Woodrow related to tiling:

Bug 1077842 - Simplify invalid regions for tiled painted layers to avoid complex region operations. r=jrmuizel
Bug 1078109 - Make sure we initialize tiled textures to the format we're going to upload with. r=jgilbert

Matt, any ideas here? I can do a further bisection against inbound and/or generate a profile if these would be helpful.

Martin, this is one bug where we could use some help.

I would probably just cancel this bug at this point, there's probably been a zillion other things that have changed since this landed.
