I have been canvassing various user experiences of using Mozilla with Yiddish 
and Hebrew web sites.  This report regards the display of Yiddish web sites 
using Mozilla 0.95 on Linux.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.5) Gecko/20011012
Font:-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--20-200-75-75-c-100-iso10646-1

Some characters display as a ? rather than the actual character, and the 
characters that should display above or below their respective base, are 
displayed beside it instead.

I will attach PNG's of the Mozilla result and what it should be.

Confirming on a fresh Linux build. I see that the same characters that are
appearing as question marks in the header are correctly displayed in the body of
the text (e.g. U05B8 HEBREW POINT QAMATS).

The problem with ?'s seems simply to be that the a font is missing those characters.  You notice the header font is a different font: it is not scaled nicely, like a truetype font, but with jagged edges like a bitmap font.  And if you look closely and/or with a trained eye, you see it's obviously a different typeface.

I don't see such problems on my linux box with my mozilla.  That seems like a problem that's not so common now, 7+ years since the original report.

However, the placement of the diacritics (nikudes) is still a problem.  Very sad this is not fixed still.  This may be a duplicate of other bugs.  I'm trying now to survey them all.
