I think we need this for PR1, so I added a note to the Status Whiteboard.
Ok, I implemented Show->Message, but I can't find the grippy that's doing the
sidebar...
Alec - is this fixed?
Well, with the new sidebar, I can get to the new grippy. haven't hooked it up to
the menu yet.

Verified that Show/Hide panes is working, in general, using the grippy control
and menus. There are some specific problems with using the grippy but these will
be logged in more specific bugs.
