Steps to reproduce:

Attempt to interact with Firefox using a touch device, including zooming and gesture use.


Actual results:

Using a touch enabled device with Firefox is currently a very poor experience, zooming uses traditional desktop zooming, there is no gesture support, and textboxes will not enable the touch keyboard.


Expected results:

Ideally the touch implementation should mirror that of desktop Chrome and Metro  browsers, with swipe gestures, textbox support, and mobile style page zoom.

This bug is unfortunately too broad to be directly actionable. You mention three specific things: (1) swipe gestures, (2) textbox support and (3) mobile style page zoom. Each of these should probably be a separate bug. The first two issues should probably be filed under the Firefox product.

The last one is in fact a Core/Panning and Zooming bug. It's also covered in part by bug 1086162 although at the moment we are not planning to support mobile-style pinch zoom behaviours on desktop platforms. We supported that in the metro browser interface (see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Metro) which ultimately got canned and never shipped.

I would suggest filing new bugs for the specific items 1 and 2. We can use this one to track (3) but it's probably going to sit for a few months.
