Steps to reproduce:

The problem I noticed in Firefox 32.0.3 and solved it this way: http://mozillapl.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=46777 (disable HW acceleration & set gfx.direct2d.disabled to true)
Now Firefox use ClearType settings from OS WinXP x64


Actual results:

Unfortunately, after upgrading Firefox to a new version (actually 33.0.2) of the problem is again, in spite of the earlier settings.


Expected results:

Firefox should use the system settings for ClearType and not your own.

Reporter, if you think it's a regression in FF33, could you use the tool mozregression (see http://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/ for details) to find a possible regression range, please.

FF33 nightlies started in June 2014, so --good=2014-06-01 is a good start.

I do not think that this is a regression. I checked again the exact version 32.0.3 and it turns out that you only need to disable hardware acceleration to solve the problem. No need change any settings in about:config

Unfortunately, after upgrading Firefox to 33.0.2 of the problem is again, despite the fact that hardware acceleration is disabled.

I noticed that the problem only occurs on a laptop with a graphics card Intel GMA X3100 Mobile + Firefox 33.0.2. I tested Firefox 33 on another computer desktop with a graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE and there does not have this problem.

Summary:

Mobile Intel GMA X3100 + WinXP SP2 x64 ClearType ON + Firefox 33.0.2 - the problem is
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE + WinXP SP2 x86 ClearType ON + Firefox 33.0.2 - there is no problem
