Build: 2001110921 (Linux) When you have "View - message headers" set to normal, and you start the mail client, all fields (From, Date, To, Subject) are shown. Upon receiving new mail, the fields "Subject" and "To" are not shown (mostly replaced by an asterix "*"). This is the case for all messages (even from other mail accounts) even after selecting other messages at random. When you set "View - message headers - all" the problem stil persists. Setting "View - message headers - normal" after that, all headers but the date are shown once again. When your message headers are set to "all", and you receive new mail, only the "to" field is missing. But if you click the arrow next to this field to expand the list, the e-mail address(es) is/are shown. Setting view to normal corrects the listing. The problem arose first in the build of November 9, AFAIK. So, it's definitely a recent regression. I couldn't find this bug anywhere, except bug #108579 that also involves some display errors in the mailnews section, although I do not think it has the same cause.

109624 may be the same. I see this on linux CVS as well, in particular when having read newsgroups and changing back to a mail account: The first header in normal view randomly becomes "Subject: *" and the last header "Newsgroups: * " (instead of "To: dark@c2i.net")
resolving as new - saw this mentioned in the newsgroup also

I had this, but upgrading to 2001-11-11 seems to have fixed it so far. Gerv

Just downloaded 20011111 Linux build. The bug has not disappeared for me. However, it has become more difficult to duplicate the problem, or so it seems.
Did some more research, and while checking some newsgroups, the headers 'subject' and 'newsgroups' displayed '*' instead of the correct values. When I switched back to my e-mail account, the 'newsgroups' header was still displayed where it should be 'to'. I did not succeed yet in duplication of this behaviour.
bug 109985 and bug 110070 may be dups of this

this looks like a dup of 109605 i'm still having the problem with nov 13 build. it goes away after restarting the browser but comes back after a while. not sure what triggers it.
arrgh. i meant to say that this looks like bug 107253
This seems to be related to bug 109624 and bug 109950 as well. It is still a problem with build 0.9.6 on Solaris.
Both bugs seem related... With a Linux 0.9.6 build (20011123) the problem seems to have disappeared...
I did not experience any more problems with other builds, and no other comments have come in. So, marking this bug as fixed
