Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0
Build ID: 20141013195847
Steps to reproduce:
After updating the phone to Base Image v188.zip I just clicked on the music app icon. There was no music on the internal storage because the update cleared everything.
Actual results:
The app started and in the middle appears a little blue ring that rotates forever.
Expected results:
I would have expected a message like "There is no music. Please add some files to the storage."
Some additional note: After adding some files to the internal storage (the settings tab tells me the music is recognized) nothing changes. The still loads forever. Also restarting the phone won't help.

Possibly a dupe of bug 1171202. Can you try with a recent 3.0 build?
Flags: needinfo?(dee)
Maybe. I've found: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Phone_guide/Flame/Updating_your_Flame It reads "Nightly: Base image v18D_nightly: The very latest nightly archive, containing a Flame base production image of Firefox OS 3.0. Before updating your phone to a Nightly build you should flash the latest base image to make sure the underlying systems are up to date."
So I should first flash the "Base image v18D.zip" and then immediately afterwards the "Base image v18D_nightly", correct? If so I can test it later. (The Flame is my everyday device so it's complicated.)

I've never used that method, but it couldn't hurt to be safe and do as you suggest. As long as you end up with a Gaia build from June 6 or later, you should be able to test it out.
With Base Image V1.8D everything is correct now (even if it's not Firefox OS 3.0). I get a message that I should load some music in the internal memory.
