we have recently turned on power testing for a variety of live websites. This is on a laptop in the toronto office. We periodically check in on the machine and I found out that as of mid last week we had some issues, specifically it looked related to e10s. Now i see two tabs all the time, 1) session restore tab 2) the tab we are actually testing the browser is launch: firefox www.url.com the browser waits and collects power data the browser is terminated via 'taskkill firefox.exe'
I suspect your taskkill bit is at fault here, in that you're not effecting a clean shutdown, so you hit the session restore codepath like you would with a crash.
Ted, I wonder why though the behavior without e10s is different, i.e. the session restore tab doesn't appear.
maybe we should remove sessionstore.js between restarts? this seems as though it wasn't an issue 2 weeks ago, there should be a simple fix. Thanks for the tip ted.
It's entirely possible that e10s changed this behavior, your two week timeframe would include e10s being enabled by default.
Severity: normal → S3
