Hello Mail / News --
I often have more than one email address for single person in address book. For
co-workers where this is true, it's often the case their "official" work address
is second / third down the auto-complete list when addressing emails.
It would be __AWESOME__ to be able to give priorities to entries to control
order of entries displayed in auto-complete drop-down (for sample single
person). This would greatly speed email addressing (if you do lot's of email).

This is a comment I added to 59148:
Autocompletion simply orders the two email addresses (email and additional
email) and suggests the one that comes alphabetically first. In my opinion, it
should always offer the address from the email field instead of the one from the
additional email field, as the field names suggest.
(BTW: the integration of the additional email field is great: recognizes both
email addresses in the email rules when-in-address-book, pulls up both addresses
in the auto-completion, etc. Well done!)
I'll second Ben's suggestion. This has been annoying me for a while now.
It would also be good if there was a way to select which personal addreessbook
to use/order by as well.
I am under the impression that it has been fixed in Thunderbird 0.8: during all
tests TB always shows the email address first and the additional address later.
Can everybody verify? Can this bug report be closed?

See also bug 305614 (duplicate? maybe), regarding order of primary and
additional email on TB 1.0.2.

RFE is obsolete, enhancement severity is good enough to indicate RFE.

Since Thunderbird 1.5 beta 2 we have a PopularityIndex for each card, whether it has one or two addresses. There should also be an entry for the additional email address. Then the addresses within the same card will sort automatically depending on the amount of sent messages to that recipient.

following the lead of bug 64662 which is WONTFIX, and with Bryan's blessing, this bug is also WONTFIX. The current selection criteria is PopularityIndex. If other selection criteria are wanted then an extension is needed.

This should be marked as a duplicate of bug 276632. And this last should be reopened.
