Botong has requested we make the release-cck-mozillaonline data (Chinese Firefox) available in the Telemetry dashboard. We might want to use a shorter string for the channel name in the dash itself.. perhaps "release-china"?
From a dashboard perspective I think we need two things: 1) Add the channel to filter.json.in on the reducer server, 2) Hope everything keeps working... We can possibly do a test run to a different SQS queue. You can hit me about doing this, it should be easy. (just take a look at the scripts on the reducer server and use a different target SQS queue) Before we this though, we really should decide on a name for the channel. And mried should check that: A) this goes through incoming-processing, and B) that the channel is present in the filename.
(In reply to Vladan Djeric (:vladan) from comment #0) > We might want to use a shorter string for the channel name in the dash > itself.. perhaps "release-china"? Both vanilla Fx and its China repack are used in China, so mozillaonline channel alone cannot represent all users in China. Maybe "release-cnrepack" or "release-mol"?
I'd like to just leave the name as "release-cck-mozillaonline", since that is what comes through in the "appUpdateChannel" field - can we do any name-shortening in the UI?
We can do a name shortening hack in the UI... but is it really that bad? - Mostly because this would be one very ugly hack :)
I'm OK with showing the full string in the UI too, I just don't want to put the hack in the backend code.
