This was added due to issues with different builds having the same url on nightly and aurora and doesn't appear to be necessary anymore while it also is a footgun as shown by bug 1065509.

Note: I need to do a little more analysis before doing this.

We've made this change in bug 1633438, partly because we did it to address an issue that was filed there, and partly because I forgot this bug existed until after that patch was up.
