We need a category "addons" on marketplace, to support the work happening in bug 923897.
Is there a spec for what you're implementing in bug 923897 and who is the owner we can talk to about it? There are a lot of questions off the top of my head, from what the Marketplace APIs would look like to how the reviewer team should treat these. I'll mark productwanted and ni?dbialer who can help define and prioritize.

The owner is myself. Happy to answer any questions!
Just throwing this out there, but if these are add-ons for b2g would it make sense to keep these on AMO rather than Marketplace?
This B2G feature is exciting but I think publicly it would be nice not to call them "addons" because that's a loaded term in many ways. In the first way, I think it would conjure up memories of Firefox bloat in how addons were the chief offenders for slowing down the browser and triggering obscure crashes. In the second way, we have a separate site for addons (https://addons.mozilla.org/) and coincidentally there is some shared code between this and Marketplace. This bug is probably not the right place to choose a new name :) I just wanted to mention it.

They get installed as Firefox OS applications so I think it makes more sense to make them available on Marketplace.
These are "customizations" that would only apply to FxOS devices. Other future things (not sure if they are still in scope) would be keyboards and home screens. The difference, at least in the case of lang-packs, are that they are installed and deleted from the device settings area. They are iconless (there is no icon on the home screen) and they do not show up in My Apps. Lang packs would not actually be displayed in marketplace since they are retrieved from settings - so, depending on how we handle keyboards/homescreens, there may not be a visible category for this in Marketplace.

Dated spec is here: https://docs.google.com/a/mozilla.com/document/d/12shyEg2wC_b02zCHQ4I-XUMKwFzIbUMZbXX1oHCPLZ4/edit# But it will need updates as it does not reflect lang packs and management of lang packs outside of Marketplace (from settings).

Ah, I remember that spec. I didn't realize this bug was talking about that same thing - this bug seems broader. We can chat tomorrow in the product meeting.
The addons I'm talking about here are neither homescreens, lockscreens or keyboards. They are apps that bundle user scripts (à la greasemonkey) and user styles that can be injected into web content. For reviewers, I think they should give them the same attention as other apps. Integration in the marketplace UI is something I don't know much about. Something like a new category maybe? And search capabilities based on sites (eg, list addons that would apply to facebook.com)?
what is the timeline for addons?

No idea, but I disabled them in 2.2 so it's not urgent. We'll need them for 3.0.
