When upgrading to Firefox 34+, the custom search engine I use is apparently deleted as part of changing the default to Yahoo. I'm not terribly happy that it switches me to the new default from my user-selected custom default, but deleting the custom search engine entirely must be a bug, no?

To reproduce: Start on Firefox <34, install the custom search provider from https://brian.mastenbrook.net/content/google-encrypted-verbatim.html , and make it the default when installing it. Upon upgrading to >=34, the custom search provider will disappear.
After trying again, I can't reproduce this. I think I confused myself somewhere in the process.
