There is no light source in the device automation lab. Because of this the camera tests have no light to focus and take photos. See: http://jenkins1.qa.scl3.mozilla.com/job/flame-kk-319.b2g-inbound.ui.functional.smoke/1709/HTML_Report/ I know there was a lamp or something like that in the room that provided enough light for the phones to focus. Can we check the automation lab?

That light is set to automatically turn off, and there's no light switch. I can possibly file a facilities request to keep it on, but it's going to be hard to enforce "good light source" as an automation condition, especially moving to the new datacenter. That's doubly-true for a dev running these at home. If that's seriously a requirement, this may not be a good candidate for this kind of testing. So, question is, why does it matter? The photo should take even if it's dark. You might get an all-black thumbnail or something but they'll still generate. Also, my phone has flash enabled by default. Is that not the case for these?

I think one of tests might need it in order to test if the viewfinder is working correctly, or something like that.

(In reply to Martijn Wargers [:mwargers] (QA) from comment #2) > I think one of tests might need it in order to test if the viewfinder is > working correctly, or something like that. My first inclination is that this sounds like an awfully fragile condition and maybe isn't a good candidate for our general automation. If we don't have pretty specific documentation somewhere of "phone A expects a light source" then this won't reasonably be maintained and it will be easy to "break" it.
