Not sure if this really belongs in tabbed browser, but that
is where it gets noticed. Feel free to change. OS and Platform
are set according to my system, but I suspect this can probably
be reproduced on all platforms.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Set prefs so that Ctrl-Enter in location bar opens a new tab.
2. Type a URL in the location bar, and press Enter. (Currently,
Enter does Ctrl-Enter and Ctrl-Enter does nothing, but that's
a separate bug.)
3. While that page is still loading, start typing another URL
in the location bar, with the intent of opening another tab.
4. Continue typing it (slowly if necessary) until the first
page starts to load.
Expected Results:
Be able to continue typing url to load it in another tab
(if pref is so set or to load it into the current tab
otherwise, e.g. if I changed my mind but neglected to
hit "stop").
Actual Results:
Whatever I am typing is interrupted, and the address of the
other page is inserted. What I had already typed is lost,
and what I continue to type is appended to the URL of the
first page, which is unrelated.
Effectively, this means I have to WAIT for each page to
start loading before I can queue another one.

What build are you using? This should be fixed in current builds (may not be
fixed in 0.9.6, however).

Was using 0.9.6, will fetch a recent nightly and retest.

This has indeed changed since the 0.9.6 branch but
is still not perfect. Using 2001112203 I get the
following behavior:
Actual Results:
When the page begins to load, the address bar loses
focus, still interrupting my typing. What I had
already typed now remains in the address bar where
I had typed it; however, because the address bar
loses focus I now have to click there again after
the page starts to load before I can finish typing
that second URL.

yup. We should not be focusing the page if the user has typed in the url
bar....

This is my experience regarding this issue:
My homepage is set to the default one (that is http://www.google.ru/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:ru:official). Suppose I open Firefox to go to another web site. I start typing URL while homepage is still being loaded and when I am still typing, loading is finished and search textboxt on the page gets focused and suddenly I realize that I am typing there instead of Location bar.
I experienced this behavior on FireFox 2.0.0.9 on Windows XP (SP2) and Mandriva Linux Free 2006.
