Steps to reproduce:
Type ''history of the arcades" in the Firefox search box (on toolbar), choose 'Bing' as search engine (or Wikipedia etc).
Actual results:
Search is always conducted with Google eg Google search results are returned.
Expected results:
I should get search results from the search provider I selected in the search box.
Could you test:
1) in safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
2) with a clean profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
same issue?

The bug disappears in safe mode. The bug is activated when add-on 'Tab Control 0.5.5' is enabled. SOLUTION: Tab control options provided by this buggy add-on should be incorporated into Firefox browser preferences so advanced users can enable them from about:config.
