A concern I have with adding retries to upload.py (bug 1118774) is that we will lose visibility into the stability of our network & servers. We should at least log some stats when retries are needed to work around connection failures.

Mozharness can already log some stats to influxdb, so that would be one option (although we would need to communicate the connection failures from the build to mozharness somehow, possibly via mach_build_properties.json). Or we could add influxdb/other logging to the build itself.
