We landed the global overlay window feature in bug 1101029 but we had no visual design for the close button. We need to apply the design as soon as we have it.

Rob, Jackeline, check https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1101029#c21 please. Thanks!
Sorry for the delay. Checking with Jean on the priority of this item.

its a call for Rob - if the current design is fine from a UX perspective we dont need to fous on it. But if the current design is not fine and if UX would like to change the design then we need to have that so we can implement it. This bug is not nominated for any rleease yet. and as it stands priority is low.

I'd prefer to defer UX work (visual and interaction) on this one until we have a release target. Right now UX is prioritizing on 2.2 commitments and blockers. Feel free to reach out to me if there are any concerns or if the situation changes.

I talked to Anthony this week and he explained that the intent of the overlay. I'd like to request a review from the visual team but am not sure how to trigger the overlay in the patch. Fernando, assuming the overlay consists of a single screen, would you be able to post a screen shot? Thanks for your patience! Rob

Hello Rob, this is how the overlay window looks like right now. The only UI that is part of the system UI is the 'Close' button located in the top left corner (no styles applied as you can see). The 'Overlay' title and the other 'Close overlay' squared button are part of the overlaid content IO (for example, BuddyUp) and how it looks is up to the owner of the overlay. We should only take care of the system UI in this case. I believe we should have this design done and applied for 2.2 or turn this feature off if we don't apply the design in time.

Hi Fernando - Here's a mock up from Helen. Let us know if this works. I've NI'd her to answer your specific questions. - Rob

Thank you Rob. Looks great. Just one question. Is the "Overlay content" title supposed to be part of the system UI? Or it is just an example of overlaying content? I believe we don't need that as part of the system UI. IMHO we only need the close button. Also, it would be great if the close button could be movable (maybe long pressing on it), so it won't avoid the user to click on an overlaid content.

Hi Fernando, As for the "Overlay content" title, it's just an example of overlaying content, the close button is the only system ui. I've updated the images and visual spec for your reference, please find the attachment. And I think maybe the close button could be invisible when the user is operating the screen, then shows up again when the screen has been stopped for a while. Just a thought, it still needs UX support here.
