User report:
10:37:35 - yenic: the only thing about IB that confused me at a time, was when i was moving users between groups, and dropped them on another user accidentally
10:37:53 - yenic: i didnt mean to do that, i meant to just move them to another group, but it groups that user with that user you dropped it on
10:38:59 - aleth: Interesting! That's because you can't move between groups via drag and drop, groups are tags.
10:39:05 - yenic: it's a nice feature, but i had to go through all my contacts and undo it all one by one. i didnt notice it till i'd done that to a lot of users

Some possible approaches:
- Don't merge contacts if the drop is not onto an expanded contact
- Do merge them, but show a notification box for confirmation/teaching what is happening, at least the first time.
- Only if the drop is onto a contact in another group, show a notification of some sort explaining tags vs contact merging.
It would be nice to open a panel anchored at the drop position the first time a contact merge is attempted, and explain what's about to happen, with a way to undo/confirm/never show again.

On the behalf of Florian:
Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
