Now that bug 1119941 is landed, this bug tracks making a decision about whether to back that out before we release. Needed to keep the tracking flags/queries sane.
Benjamin, could you prepare a patch to enable the protected mode in beta 9? Thanks

We are planning on backing out these defaults (for all users) in favor of the more targeted approach of bug 1133003.
