From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.6) Gecko/20011120 BuildID: 2001112009 Clicking "inbox" in my mail account causes all instances of Mozilla to shutdown with an "illegal operation" message. The mail account is pop. This just started, several days after installing Mozilla 0.9.6. It worked fine for several days and then started crashing. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling and it still happens every time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Mozilla mail 2.Click "inbox" under the mail account name in the left panel 3.Scream in frustration as Mozilla crashes again. Actual Results: Mozilla mail and all instances of the browser crash with "illegal operation" message and the talkback application starts up. Expected Results: Normal display of inbox contents I use Mozilla at work on Win2K and it works fine. This only happens at home on Win98 and it has only recently started doing this, after several days of flawless performance.
I bug has just been fixed causing mozilla to crash when going to a folder that contains a mail without any To, Cc or Bcc header. Perhaps that's what you're seeing. Please try todays build and see if the problem is gone...
A long ago, I had the same type of crash after some database file corruption. A new profile resolved the problem.

As Dimitrios Papadopoulos suggested, creating a new profile fixed the issue.
I noticed this problem after i removed a search filter from one of my INBOXes. I removed the filter string and pressed enter. After a little while mozilla crashed with a SEGV. Mozilla could restart, but when i opened the mail/news screen it crashed again. After editting the prefs.js to no login automatically for that account i was able to access mail/news.. It crashed again after clicking on INBOX (other imap folders on the same account worked fine). I removed the that account from the mail accounts and added it again.. And i'm ahppily reading email again.
