I'm on the latest Firefox 35 beta and, surprisingly, Google is set as the default search provider. I don't remember selecting Google specifically. Also, when looking at the search prefs, Google shows as the default as well. (See attached screenshot.)

What is the value of browser.search.isUS in this profile? Does the browser.search.countryCode pref exist? If so, what is its value?

This could have happened if you had your system clock set to a non-North American time zone when you first ran this profile/build. Or it could have happened if you actually ran a 36 build first, and then got the GeoIP logic, which detected that you are in Canada and not the US, and so gave you Google by default.

Time zone is set to "(UTC -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)"

I may have run a 36 or later build first but afaik Yahoo is the expected default in Canada. (Many people in Toronto have commented to me about the change to Yahoo on their system.)

I just updated to 36 beta1 and Yahoo is now the default. Given that the issues resolved itself, I don't think that there's any other work that we need to do to follow up on this one.
