A feature of various hardware and software music players I've used over the years that I find useful is the option to ignore articles such as A/An/The/ at the beginning of Artists/Albums/Tracks to make filtering a bit more natural for native English speakers, as many would likely look for the Crystal Method under C, not T.
After some discussion with the other music developers, we've decided that we won't support this feature. Using a heuristic like this is prone to error, especially if we tried to ignore articles in other languages (which is only fair). For instance, what happens when you try to sort "Die Hard" as a German user? If we ignored articles, it'd end up under "H", which is wrong. However, there's a more-general way to handle this and other similar cases: defining a "sort order" for the title in question in the metadata. I've filed bug 1213380 to cover this.
