There's been discussion around this for some time now so let's file this and get this on the radar. Keeping notes on where this surfaces.

+1 let's do it.
WONTFIX for now.

After some discussion, it seems better to WONTFIX this for now as we want to explore the possibility of using this as a "send to device" icon and stick to platform conventions for more generic, well established conventions like "Share".
