There is apparently an issue with animating the opacity of certain elements, such as the url-status text when hovering a link, or the top chrome toolbars when using my add-on The Fox, Only Better [1]. In short, when setting opacity:0, sometimes the animation will not go all the way to the end, and you end up with a partially translucent element on screen. This predates D2D1.1, so I'm almost positive it is not the cause. The original issue where this was reported to me by an user of my add-on [2] has several different reports by different users, with as many different ways to "reproduce" it. I have never seen this myself, despite having tried every combination reported to me. That thread also has several screenshots of this. This *seems* to be related to custom userstyles add-ons, since Stylish or User Style Manager seem to be in every user case, although like I said I haven't been able to reproduce it at all with either of those. I finally decided to report this, since this is obviously a big nuisance to users and I have no idea of what (if anything) I can do about it. Also, I've had more reports by e-mail about this than those in that thread. It does seem to be a more general problem than I had initially considered it to be.
One thing you could do is find a regression range using http://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/
Unfortunately, this has been happening for nearly a year (at least); there are no old firefox builds like that available. Plus even if there were, this is not easily reproducible to just install a couple of add-ons and see if it happens just like that. :( (don't mean to sound like I'm complaining about the suggestion, I just mean to say I don't think it's something that could possibly be done)
Severity: normal → S3

Unable to reproduce in current versions.
