Library window not hang? Just too slow to update with a lot of bookmarks?

menupopups have poor performance atm. I must suggest not keeping too many bookmarks into a flat list for now.
How many bookmarks in a flat list is too many? I have 10,000+ bookmarks, kept them Unsorted - no need to sort due to search capabilities. But deleting or modifying one bookmark would hang the library for 30-60 seconds. So I set up 10 folders of 1,000 bookmarks each - but this didn't help much, the response time is only marginally faster if at all. Trial and error is awfully tedious, is there any guidance on the number of bookmarks that can be handled without affecting response time?

Unfortunately not cause it depends on the hardware.
Just to be sure, do you have any add-ons that interact with bookmarks?
Just noticed this - if I X out of the library and then re-enter, works ok again (no delays)

Marking as duplicate of bug 1405242 - since FF 35 we've done a lot of work, switching to async transactions and improving the performance, in particular bug 1411891. There's more work to be done, which bug 1405242 is currently tracking.
