There's a few things we keep on feeling it would be useful for loop-client extraction script to do (and occasionally needing):
- Pull from a different repository
- Pull from a different relative source repository location
- Pull from a different branch
- Skip pulling from upstream git
- Possible: Only do extraction/translation of current file versions and no commits.

I decided not to do the static extraction in this bug as that's a bit more work to figure out and redo. For now, this gives us much easier options for testing and supporting different combinations of what we might need.
