This will probably involve updating the current SMS snippet (bug 1125319) to include iOS.

Updating this bug to reflect a single Mobile snippet targeting en-US only. It will have SMS activation incorporating and be based on https://snippets.mozilla.com/show/5100/ In bug 1139691 we discuss the best option for how to interact with the user.

Fabio, we have some more direction from Arcadio/Winston. # Solution (Arcadio/Winston) Snippet messaging is iOS focused with a single input box and button. There will be a piece e.g "Android still available, click here [firefox/sms]" If submitted from the snippet, user receives iOS specific text with a link to App Store :frios - do you think you could mock something up?

I should have something ready today. Thanks Cory.

After further discussion, we are hoping repurpose the existing SMS snippet template for iOS. We have the ability to customize text within the service so we only need the graphic. Need:.png, 80x80px to fill the red box in attached mockup. I think the right approach here is to make it as clear as possible that this applies to iOS only. People have been seeing the Android snippet for some time now, so we want to make sure they know this is a different snippet. Note: Probably don't need to show a tablet since this is all SMS.

Question... Winston, Arcadio does it make sense to have a logo replacement on this for 2-3 days to give it a bang? Maybe an iPhone with Firefox browser screenshot? No iOS logos up top. I would only push these to people with Macs for the sake of trying to get more targeted.

Hi all, I've attached 2 versions for the iOS snippet. One being a simple Firefox iOS icon, and the other using an iPhone along with the iOS icon to the side. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Matt
Matt, I like these, and I think we can use both. Let me share with a few people and confirm we are good to go with these icons. Thanks.

Can we see some options without the double Firefox logo?

Hey Winston, I've attached another option utilizing an iPhone and iPad lockup. With regards to the double Fx logo effect on the other, I realize this may not be ideal, but the official Firefox iOS icon will be the logo on a white background within the standard rounded app shape...seems like this would be a good connection to iOS without going as far as adding an apple logo. Ideally it would be nice to showcase more of the the browser UI, but at this scale its hard to get that across effectively. Let me know what you think. MT
Matt, we have a meeting today and will touch on this. We may be able to use the iOS logo -- I don't know. Regardless, all of the one's that you have provided here will be used. Can you post the final files of the three we've seen so far? More to follow soon.
Matt, we worry that since we've run the Android snippet for so long we are not being explicit enough that this is for iOS. As you noted, the issue here is the scale, it's too hard to show the browser UI. Can you take the graphic that we are using on the iOS landing page and re-purpose as a logo replacement for the snippet? We will use the graphics that you have create within the snippet, and the addition of the logo replacement would accomplish exactly what we need. Size max is 447x184.

Thanks Fabio. I will get back to you about the additional logo replacement graphic. In the meantime I can pass along the other 3 snippets to be used. Question about the max size for the snippet. I am a bit confused about this, this appears much larger dimensions then what I am currently using for these (80x80px) even at 2x sizing is only 160x160px. If we have room for 447x184 I feel like we can bring more detail and necessary info into the visual. But this sized snippet would significantly change the overall layout. I may be misinterpreting, can you clarify? 80x80px example > https://www.dropbox.com/s/b5m4znf7lxnple0/Screenshot%202015-04-08%2010.11.10.png?dl=0

The larger specs are for the logo replacement that I suggested. The 80x80 is correct for the icons.
Thanks for clarifying, Fabio. Makes sense, I was thinking snippets, not above search. I've have two possible ideas for the above search and smaller snippet graphics. v1 - makes use of the iPhone with leaping fox graphic, and the FxOS icon as smaller snippet. v2 utilizes the FxOS icon above the search, similar to the standard Fx logo, but with the recognizable rounded iOS icon shape around it.

Matt I really like the version with the fox and the phone. Let's go with that one. Can you include a tablet too, maybe horizontal view? That drives home the message that this is for iOS and available on phone and tablets alike.
Hi Fabio, I've attached another layout option which utilizes both phone and tablet.

Per a discussion with Fabio Updating summary to identify this as an iOS only snippet launching with 38.1 (June 2nd). This will launch in all locales en-US: SMS non en-US: email
Summary: Mobile snippet (en-US only) - Design & Copy → iOS snippet - Design & Copy
