Steps to reproduce:

I am getting constant crashes and hangs using Firefox. Additionally, I have to quit and relaunch Firefox at least once a day, but can sometimes run longer, to free up memory, as the browser becomes unusable after a period of time. (In Activity Monitor, it uses about 1.8gb of memory when I check before quitting. That number is pretty consistent.)

I am on Yosemite 10.10.2, on a Retina iMac with the 295X graphics card, and 32GB of RAM. On my previous 2008 Mac Pro, I never ran into these issues and could run Firefox for weeks without having to restart the browser or run into any kind of issues. Since switching to the new system, I have an unstable browsing experience.

I run about 8 or 9 tabs at a time.

I have attached all of the crash logs that I have that are there though Console.


Actual results:

I will have to restart Firefox or the application crashes and I am forced to restart.


Expected results:

Run without crashing.

You can make Firefox Crash Reporter appear when Firefox is hung: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/How_to_Report_a_Hung_Firefox

I will do this when it hangs. It does come back sometimes and slows to a crawl with the memory usage (I've seen over 2gb now), but I will send a report from the link you sent me. I just closed and reopened Firefox about 20 minutes before your comment.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with Firefox. Did you try https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox/fix-problems ? The instructions there should help in most cases.

If that doesn't help, please indicate what steps you have already tried and provide additional information as explained in the instructions (e.g. crash report ID, about:memory).
