User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 Build ID: 20150222232811 Steps to reproduce: In Firefox 35 and 36 on both Windows and OSX, type text in search bar, hold down Alt key and select a search engine other than the default Actual results: page opens in current tab, just like if Alt was not held down Expected results: page should open in new tab, like it does for default search engine when Alt+Enter is pressed

"no longer" in the bug summary seem to indicate this is a regression, which isn't possible if we talking about clicking icons that didn't exist before. Being able to press alt+enter to open in a new tab is useful, but if you are clicking, there's already ctrl/command+click that opens in a new tab, so I'm not sure what's really wanted here. We took care of fixing alt+enter and ctrl/command+click in bug 1106101.

It works with Firefox 34, but not 35 or 36.

Alt+Click is not a standard behavior for opening links in a new tab. Assuming Alt+Enter and Cmd/Ctrl+Click work, this is WONTFIX/INVALID.
