Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0
Build ID: 20150222232811
Steps to reproduce:
Updated to Firefox 36.0
Actual results:
browser.urlbar.autoFill.typed stopped working. Setting to true/false does not change behaviour.
Expected results:
Setting to true and typing "t" in the browser should give me a list of website URLs starting with "t" that I have visited in the past.

browser.urlbar.autoFill is the preference that controls whether autofill is enabled. It's enabled by default, meaning if you type b, then ugzilla.mozilla.org/ will automatically be filled in and selected.
Regardless of how that preference is set, by default the location bar will still show a drop-down list of matching history and bookmark entries. This won't happen if you've unchecked both History and Bookmarks under Options/Preferences → Privacy.
Please test in a brand new profile and post back the results.
