In the address book, when I would like the to have the possibility to send a card by email, possibly by selecting a "send..." option in the file menu. The card could be send as html, as displayed in the address book, or in plain text.
dup of bug 20304 "forward as vCard", there are also other bugs about adding the content of the card to the body of a message, but I think that this is the more proper one. Reporter, please reopen if you disagree. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 20304 ***

The Contacts Sidebar extension for Thunderibird http://jpeters.no-ip.com/extensions/index.php?page=tb_cs allows to forward vCards.
I can confirm this seems to work as expected with the Contacts Sidebar extension.
The MoreColsForAddressBook extension also supports this and other vCard operations: http://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html

I think it won't be possible before Thunderbird will be able to export contact as vCard, so marking as dependent of Bug 20304
