This is related to bug 1135890, in which WebRTC is not able to use a DV camera connected to the computer's FireWire port (this works in Chrome, fwiw). In that scenario, Hello does not provide any indication of a problem. It lets you create and send a link to a conversation, and if you receive an invitation, you can join, but video just silently fails to work. Worse, for conversations you started, there's absolutely no indication that anything is wrong -- but there's also no video *nor* audio; the conversation window never appears at all. The failure is silent, and it's very, very confusing.
