Environment: FF 39 Build Id: 20150315030236 OS: Win 7 x64 and Mac Os X 10.7.5 STR: 1. From mac Firefox create a new Firefox Account. 2. From Firefox windows log in to Firefox Account created on step 1. 3. From mac change the password of the Firefox Account. 4. Under Windows create services.sync.debug.ignoreCachedAuthCredentials = true pref under about:config. Do not restart. 5. Wait for aprox 10 minutes until "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action." error is displayed on windows Firefox. 6. Restart Firefox from windows. Issue: Under the hamburger menu of the windows Firefox you are incorrectly displayed as logged in to the Firefox Account. Note: This issue is reproducible on any combination of devices I used Mac and Windows desktop for an easier description of the bug.
We hope to address this by not kicking them out of sync on the device which they changed the password.
