For example, if you look at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/d9088171-85f4-4450-8ce1-caed32150309 you'll see the crashing thread does not match the signature reported. If you example the threads and look at Thread 0 you'll find the matching stack. I'd like to request that we show the stack matching the signature as the "crashing thread" for shutdown hangs. CCing KaiRo who might be able to give more background and articulate this a bit more intelligibly than I.
FWIW, in the current setup, shutdownhang signatures are always based on the Thread 0 stack. (For reference this stuff originates from bug 1104317) It's arguably correct that the Crashing Thread is the RunWatchdog thread, since that's what actually crashed. The signature is just a convenience for categorization, since otherwise we'd just have a bunch of indistinguishable RunWatchdog crashes. But maybe I'm just used to it. I'm not necessarily opposed to making a change here.
