Looks like this might be an issue with Media Source Extensions. Moving to Core :: Audio/Video component.
Component: Graphics → Video/Audio

There's only webm support on windows XP as H264 support only appear on vista.
YouTube doesn't provide all resolutions using webm, and sometimes videos are only encoded using mp4/h264
Simon, can you please check if this happens with the following Firefox versions:
* Firefox 39: https://nightly.mozilla.org/
* Firefox 37: https://beta.mozilla.org/
* Firefox 36: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Simon, in addition to my previous comment, can you please check which version of Flash you have installed? Youtube should be falling back to Flash on Windows XP in this use case.
Closing this bug as incomplete due to a lack of actionable information. Simon, please reopen this bug report if you can still reproduce the issue.
