User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 Build ID: 20150306140254 Steps to reproduce: 1. Open BuddyUp and go to "My Profile" by clicking on the cog in the top right corner. 2. Go to the "Login" page by clicking on the "Create account or sign in" button. 3. Go to the "Create Account" page by clicking "Don't have an account? Register" button. 4. Fill in the 3 text fields and hit the "Done" button to create an account. 5. You will be taken to a new page with "Confirm Your Account" at the top. Click the "Cancel email verification". 6. Go back to the "Create Account" page and fill in the fields again but use the previous email you used and hit "Done". Actual results: The message "A user with that email address already exists." pops up which prevents the account from being verified. Expected results: The account should be created because the first account was never verified.

I confirm this bug. I thinks canceling email verification can leave the user with the impression that the account isn't created. This may confuse users that try with the same email to create a new account. Also if they try to sign in with the username created with the email then they get the message that the account is disabled without any way to enable the account. Maybe we can offer resending a confirmation email again, like it happens in SUMO site: https://support.allizom.org/en-US/users/resendconfirmation

Not a blocker, will work on it later
Target Milestone: --- → 2015Q2
We can do a cheap fix with only linking to the resendconfirmation page (so they have to do it in the browser) and open another bug to implement the UI inside BuddyUp with a specific API call.
SUMO has moved to Lithium and this bug is for a SUMO project that isn't around anymore. Given that, I'm closing as WONTFIX.
