found using 2001.12.10.08 comm bits on Mac OS 10.1.1. when there are no windows
open (but the menubar is present), aren't some of the View > Apply Theme items
still supposed to work?

1. start the app.
2. close all window so that there's only the menubar.
3. go to the View > Apply Theme menu and check to see if those items work.

results:

* Theme Preferences does work (launches prefs).

* Get New Themes fails to open a browser window (that would then go to the
appropriate theme download site).

* Class/Modern doesn't appear to work --not sure if we should allow switching
when there are no window present. if that's the case, these should be disabled
(greyed out). i tried this a couple of times --once i got a crash. another time
i didn't even get an alert dlg saying that i'd need to restart (subsequent
restart didn't exhibit a theme change).
patty, what occurs when you try this out on mac 9.x?

not sure if this crash is relevant here. so far only occurred once... but i
cannot seem to find an existing bug with a similar trace. any ideas?
this is not "themes" this is "skinnability" changing component and
reassigning to owner of that module. cc'ing hyatt and hewitt.

uh, no, you can't future this one. if we have dynamic skin switching, it has to
work all the time.

Same on Mac OS 9.1, Build 2002100911.
Note also that the usual alert window is not opened.

And a sugestion:
Is it possible to open a bug that tracks all the problems when no window is
opened ? The list is very long, specially with menus that should not be enabled,
that don't works etc...
