To change a bug to ASSIGNED, you need to click Edit, wait, then change the select box.
Or you can click the shortcuts to resolve as FIXED, INVALID or DUPLICATE, then change to ASSIGNED.
We should be able to change the status of a bug directly.
we should make the status field editable when the 'take' button is clicked, so you can change it to assigned without a trip to 'edit'. an 'assigned' status shortcut also makes sense, but only if you are already the assignee.

What if we were to add a drop down next to the assignee field that had:
"Take Bug"
"Take Bug and Assign"

i played with that, but i think it's important to keep the 'take' action as a single click given how frequently it's used.
instead i made the status field editable when you click 'take', as well as showing a 'mark as assigned' button next to the status field.
