The scripts documented at https://wiki.mozilla.org/index.php?title=ReleaseEngineering/How_To/Enable_or_Disable_Updates_on_Aurora#Enabling_Updates do not run on a normal mac (openssl issues). They also can't be run from a buildbot master or slave due to lack of flow to aus4-admin 443. I suspect it also doesn't work on windows, so this is a "linux laptop only" script atm. Current workaround is to do things manually, including bouncer update (refer to pre-script versions of the wiki page for details).

Can you paste the exact problem you had? IIRC it was something about SSL cert verification?

Another workaround would be to run the script on a linux compile slave.
