Bug 1147229 describes incorrect background image printing. Testing that bug on Nightly shows that Firefox no longer prints background images even when "Print Background(colors & images)" is checked in Page Setup:

Expected results:

The image should be printed as it is shown on the html page.

Jet and I confirmed that this is now fixed on Nightly and Aurora. Given the timeline (obviously it was fixed quite recently) and the fact that it had to be a bug that got uplifted, together with the symptoms, my theory is that bug 1068881 fixed this.
