Today's nightly, Windows 7 x86-64.
STR:
* choose Hello from the Firefox menu
* I did something, I'm not sure what
* This tab opened: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/40.0a1/hello/start/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_campaign=getting-started
* A menu opened from the Firefox menu
* Clicking the Firefox menu didn't dismiss this menu, nor could I figure out any other way to dismiss this menu (the Firefox menu opened on top of this menu).
Screenshot attached.

FWIW, the menu does close itself when you close that tab.

The sticky menu is a known bit of behavior on the FTU page. It can be closed again by either clicking the Hello icon again, or like you say closing the tab. But you're correct it does not exhibit typical menu behavior. There are reasons for this, but will keep this bug open for future reference.

Mike, do you know if anything related to the fix in bug 1113896 changed recently that would cause this regression?

I'm not sure if this is a regression? AFAIK, the Hello menu has always been sticky when opened this way. Bug 1113896 just made it closable again by clicking the icon a second time. But maybe I'm misunderstanding something…

Indeed, what Alex said. One thing though, Benjamin should've been able to close the panel by clicking the Loop/ Hello button. The STR doesn't mention he tried that, so Benjamin, can you tell us if you did?

The Loop button is not in my toolbar; it's in the Firefox menu.

Ah, I skimmed the bug and assumed that the Hello button was tried.
