User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0 Build ID: 20150420225811 Steps to reproduce: Watch any video on YouTube using the html5 player, for example https://youtu.be/9bZkp7q19f0. Click anywhere on the video to play. Pause the video by clicking again on it. Click once again on the video to resume it. Actual results: The video resumes for about .5 sec and pauses again.(Resuming by clicking on the play button does work just fine but it's a very small button so it's very inconvenient) Expected results: The video should resume.
I was able to reproduce this issue on multiple devices. This happens when android youtube app is not installed or is disabled on the device. 1. Go to android setting, and disable the Youtube app. 2. Visit Youtube and watch a video. 3. Pause a video, and try to resume it by tapping the video Result: Video starts but is then paused after ~ 0.4 sec Please see logs: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/8832602 This affects Firefox 37(release channel)

This is the one issue that is stopping us from being accepted by one potential partner. I just tried it myself in Nightly, and it continues to happen. Sony Xperia Z1 running Lollipop YouTube mobile website YouTube app: uninstalled This does not happen if you request the desktop site, but that's beside the issue.

Hello, it's my first comment on bugzilla :) The Best choice for resolve the issue is to make by default on Firefox Android the addon "enable YouTube player Mobile" and the addon "Faster Video Mobile" Features: Adds a site-specific override for Firefox for Android to spoof the Chrome useragent for m.youtube.com. This allows videos to play in the browser instead of playing in the native app. Use this addon with Faster Video Mobile to be able to control the speed of Youtube Videos The links: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/android/addon/enable-youtube-player-mobile/?src=search And https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/faster-video-mobile/ Please do this, this bug is critical for the Android market share of Firefox, the extension have the amazing advantage against the YouTube app that Firefox play music video in background ! And not the YouTube app. The addon enable YouTube player Mobile need a better texture resolution of buttons of the player, and need the ability of choose the video resolution (1080p for example, sorry I speak bad english), the second addon (Faster Video Mobile) need to be merge in Firefox also, and work for all html5 vidéo (not only youtu.be) but need to detect when there are not vidéo on the site and to disable the vidéo speed buttons when there are not video on the site. I am very sorry for my bad english, this bug is a major priority so go mozilla ! People need your help ! Sorry I don't know code so I can Just give you ideas but not code.

Based on Comment #0 and Comment #2, I think this is a dupe of Bug 1133677. There is another related issue that has to do with the play button not resuming video playback after a pause -- see Bug 1225554 to track that.
