It would be nice if some screenshots were available on a link from the front page. Could show the classic and modern version of Mozilla, along with mailnews, chatzilla and editor.
-> taking QA contact so I don't need to watch Dawn anymore. ;)

I think this is a good idea.
This would attract many new users/testers. :)

Well - hurry up - i think screenshots are very important!!
does someone want to write copy for this page?
I'll take this. I don't have access previlege to change the front page wrapper, so linking from front page wouldn't be possible for me to do. But I can do a screenshot page for http://mozilla.org/why/users.html . Will that be alright with everyone?

Cool, I think you should take bigshot.png (in the upper right corner), and overlay it with "Screenshots: Click Here" and turn it into a link to a page with various screenshots with descriptions of what themes were used, and what system. See this page for an example of a good screenshots page: http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/fscreenshots.php3

Replacement bigshot.png Replace the markup with: <a href="screenshots.html"><img style="border-style: none" id="screenshot" height="252" width="350" alt="See Mozilla Screenshots" title="Screenshots Image Link" src="bigshot.png"></a> Daniel Wang: I'm sure if you do that, someone else can create the link on the front page, so what you suggested seems plenty reasonable to me.

The previous one had issues.

Daniel Wang: Here's a reminder about this bug, and some help. Here is a sample screenshot from the zipfile of images, html, and thumbnails I am going to attach
Can you also please make sure that your pages work with other browsers besides Mozilla? We are trying to market it to people OTHER than Mozilla users, generally. I had problems with IE6
Put this in the root/screenshots directory where root is where users.html is.
same deal
Last of four zip files. Sorry but Mozilla had a file size limit. This one also contains the screenshots/thumbnails directory. Here is a listing of all the files using cygwin's find command: ./files.zip ./screenshots ./screenshots/screenshots1.zip ./screenshots/screenshots2.zip ./screenshots/screenshots3.zip Extract them exactly there, preserving directory structure and it should end up like this: ./bigshot.png ./screenshot.html ./screenshots ./screenshots/mail-classic.png ./screenshots/mail-modern.png ./screenshots/mozilla-classic.png ./screenshots/mozilla-firebird.png ./screenshots/mozilla-modern.png ./screenshots/mozilla-thunderbird.png ./screenshots/thumbnails ./screenshots/thumbnails/mail-classic.png ./screenshots/thumbnails/mail-modern.png ./screenshots/thumbnails/mozilla-classic.png ./screenshots/thumbnails/mozilla-firebird.png ./screenshots/thumbnails/mozilla-modern.png ./screenshots/thumbnails/mozilla-thunderbird.png
Oh, one last thing (I know you all are shaking your head at your mailbox right now). Is it possible they could link to your page on the front page when your page is finished? Maker sure to see how it doesn't look quite right in IE6. Looks good in Opera 7.11.

I was bored :-p
Looks good, although I like the old color scheme a bit more. make sure it works in IE, Konqueror, and Opera. Did you set up the screenshots page?
Comment on attachment 127642 [details] redesign of why/ ? not yet. I'll wait for the site wraper to change before I make the screenshot page.

Sounds like a good idea.

I don't believe this is a "major" website problem. The link should be from /products/mozilla1.x/, and the URI should be /products/mozilla1.x/screenshots/
Severity: major → normal
QA Contact: imajes → stolenclover
Yes, I agree, but there are other products that need screeshots too. This bug was filed before the new site layout. Due to the new layout, I realized there should be more screenshots available than just mozilla1.x http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/ http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/ http://www.mozilla.org/products/camino/ These all need screenshots. http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/screenshots/ http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/screenshots/ http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/screenshots/ http://www.mozilla.org/products/camino/screenshots/ Screenshots should be available for Linux, Mac OSX, and Win32. An index for all the screenshots pages can be in: http://www.mozilla.org/products/screenshots
Has there been made any progress on this?
Doesn't seem there has been. All there are on the sites are mini screenshots. All they'd need to do is make those link to larger screenshots.

These screenshots, are they windows screenshots?
(In reply to comment #28) > These screenshots, are they windows screenshots? Sorry, comment #24 seem to answer my question :)
QA Contact: danielwang → www-mozilla-org
mozilla.org has drastically changed in the last few years. mozilla.com is for screenshots of the product(s) (Firefox and Thunderbird; other applications can use their own websites). WONTFIX.
