When viewing a message, clicking on one of the underlined email addresses in the
'header' should have an option to open the Address Book record if it exists.

It would be really nice if there was a way to always display the contact record
of the person the email was from alongside the email in the email view.

Supposing you mean "Open the address book and show card if an entry exists for
this address" ?

Changing the summary from "can't search address book from email link in mail
header" to "Message pane, address area's context menu should have 'view card'
option".

Adding jglick to Cc: list so she is aware of this Enh Request.

Yes, absolutly, add "open the address book and show card if an entry exists for 
this address". My original desription says it all "should have an option to 
open the address book record if it exists".

Also, it would be best if it had some kind of icon or visual indication of 
whether or not there was an address book entry next to the person's linked 
name. Then clicking on that little address book entry could also bring up the 
record.
