RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1165286

People

(Reporter: seanryan52, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0
Build ID: 20150513174244

Steps to reproduce:

All I have to do is try to load any java applet. For example, the applet that verifies your java version at http://java.com/en/download/installed8.jsp

Actual results:

On Windows 7, the java applet will never load if it is hosted outside of our LAN....if it is hosted on our LAN it takes up to 3-5 minutes for the applet to load. In the java console it shows that jp2launcher is trying to verify certificates and shows the connection to be "direct".

Expected results:

It should have verified the certificate identity by contacting the verifying 'agents' or sites by using the proxied connection. Changing the networking settings in the java control panel to manual proxy and setting it appropriately resolves the issue. It should be taking the settings from the browser as that is the default setting. This does not happen in any earlier version of Firefox or on any other browser.
Summary: Java will not retrieve proxy settings since updating to 38.0.1 on Win7 → Java will not retrieve proxy settings from browser since updating to 38.0.1 on Win7
It appears that windows 8.1 OS's are not affected. As far as my setup is concerned I have found that this only affects windows 7 (64 or 32 bit)
