(Whiteboard: [reader-mode-firefox-integration])

Reproducible with 38.0.5 beta 3 - build1 (20150518141916) Affected platforms: Windows 7 x86, Windows 8.1 x64, Mac OS X 10.9.5 and Ubuntu 14.04 x64 Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch Firefox. 2. Open a New Private Window 3. Go to any websites Reader View compatible and open any article (E.g.: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/05/20/asia/asian-countries-migrant-ships/index.html) 4. Pin the tab. 5. Enter Reader View. Expected result: Favicon is displayed. Actual result: Favicon is not displayed. Notes: 1. Also reproducible with 38.0.5 beta 2 (20150514163436) 2. Browser console output: 'Error requesting favicon URL for about:reader content: favicon not found for uri' thrown by ReaderParent.jsm:112:0 3. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/jek9Pwu.png (as visible in the screenshot, this issue is not always reproducible)
This is a clearly an issue that has not been given any attention since 2011. There have been addons available to edit the favicon for pinned tabs but they have not been kept up to date. Two website examples of dotted squares icons for pinned tabs are http://www.truthfrequencyradio.com and http://www.infowars.com/ It is not aesthetically pleasing to see dotted squares for pinned tabs so why cant it be a standard feature to edit the pinned tab icon. One addon is https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/identfavicon/ but this generates icons that are all similar to each other defeating the purpose of an icon. Just update the configure menu with a spot for editing the favicon.

Summary: Favicon not always displayed for pinned tabs in Private Browsing Window → Favicon for reader mode articles not always retrieved/shown successfully in Private Browsing Window

This works for me on current nightly (though the reader mode icon doesn't show up for me on the CNN article anymore, which is a separate issue...).
